Castles & Stately Homes

Highlights from Di & Lyndon's Wedding | St Peter's Conisbrough | Conisbrough Castle | The Hilton, Sheffield

I was delighted to be asked to shoot Lyndon & Di's wedding as 7 years earlier i shot his sister Carly's Wedding, so was really pleased to have the honour of capturing Lyndon's day too and to see the family again.

It was a cold day in Sheffield, but the light was good. Di & Lyndon were both very relaxed on the day, and surrounded by friends and family at the hotel where they both got ready. It was A very relaxed atmosphere which always makes for great pictures, especially candid / documentary style shots and there's a few great candid moments.

The light at the church was bright sunshine, which made for some lovely backlit pictures with deep blue skies, and the backlight sets off the shot of the guys framed in the church door and Di's walk up towards the church entrance. St Peter's is a beautiful church, with a stunning, colourful stained glass window above the alter, which made for a lovely feature image.

Between the church and reception venue we visited the nearby Conisbrough Castle for a few shots, and the light didn't dissapoint! Again, lovely low evening sunlight created long shadows and a warm glow in some of the shots with the sun hitting the castle walls, this coupled with a deep blue sky and some whispy cloud made for some stunning wide scenic shots of Lyndon & Di in the grounds. We found a few great spots for pictures and a couple of great little nooks, cracks and caves in the walls to create some great photographs. I must thank and commend Di's patience and ability to withstand the cold, as it wasn't warm at all!

I was really pleased to hook up with, and be assisted by my old Sheffield UNI buddy SImon Greatbatch, a true friend and excellent fellow photographer, who faithfully carried my kit around and handled the remote off camera flash & softbox duties excellently! - Thanks Simon.

The photography into the evening continued and when the snow came it was my cue to drag out the unsuspecting Bride & Groom to the Canalside at Victoria Quays, and our efforts were blessed with the stunning & colourful snowy shot (Below) we achieved in the space of a few minutes.

Congratulations Lyndon & Di, I hope you love the pictures as much as i did capturing your day for you! Best wishes, Steven

Laura & Jon | Bottesford Church | Belvoir Castle

Well, what can i say, Laura & Jon were the most amazing couple to work with, completely loved up and each of them surrounded by gorgeous and amazing friends and family, all very happy smiley people too, which always helps when you're photographing a wedding!. This was a really fun day to shoot, and i was presented with a countless number of both candid, reportage and directed photo opportunities all day long.

Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire was the reception venue and they certainly don't come much more grand and spectacular than this!... Laura made me laugh at her pre wedding photo shoot, ttrying to tell me it's not a big wedding really... then i explained that she's getting married in Church with around 100 guests and then having her reception in a huge Castle with fireworks and Cannon firing... hardly a low key affair!! Belvoir is such a beautiful backdrop for a wedding with huge gardens you can get lost in, for more personal photography of just the Bride & Groom.

A huge thanks going out to Darren Cresswell, a very talented wedding photographer and friend, Darren second shot on this one, due to me having broken my toe only a week before!! - Darren did a lot of running around, really helped capture Jon and the groomsmen at the church before the ceremony, a lot of the wedding breakfast room detail and also many great candids during and after the church. - thanks mate!. :)

Laura & Jon are a very easy going pleasant couple, not to mention patient!... persevering with all my crazy photo ideas and posings!... but wow... i think it paid off, I am so pleased with the images achieved. I'm looking forward to seeing them at the studio to choose their favourites for the album! I'm really pleased with the night time shots, fireworks and Cannon firing pics... not the easiest shots to take but very happy with how they turned out!!

I don't think I or any of the guests will ever forget Laura & Jon's First dance... what an awesome, fun filled visual spectacular that was!! - never mind the fireworks, the first dance was where it all happened.

Congratulations Laura & Jon and best wishes for the future - Mr & Mrs Mahoney! - Thanks for choosing me to capture your special day, it was truly an honour! - Love Steven.
