Hannah & David | St Andrew's, Twyford | Ferry Cottage Marquee Reception

The mix bag of weather on Hannah & David's Wedding day has provided a rather surprising and dramatic set of pictures after resigning myself to dull wet rainy shots with portraiture indoors, the results here almost completely in contrast to my original expectations!

The day began at the lovely Ferry Cottage Farmhouse at Twyford, Barrow on Trent, where the quaint little St Andrew's Church is just a stones throw away down the lane. Surrounded by farmland in the depths of Derbyshire on the banks of the River Trent, the setting was nothing short of beautiful. Offering any photographer a multitude of sweeping backdrops, cloudscapes, the meandering river, picturesque little farmhouses in the distance, and even some dramatic power station cooling towers on the horizon... I was in wedding photography heaven here... except it was heaving it down with rain on approach to the farmhouse where the pre ceremony was to take place!!

It remained a little showery for most of the day, but there were also alot of conveniently timed sunny spells allowing for what I think are some of my best and most dramatic Bride & Groom Portraiture photographs I have ever taken. I have really enjoyed going to town on the post production here which as equal a skill nowadays as getting the shots on the day. I am particularly proud of the large upright kiss shot, I love it, for me there's just something timeless and beautiful about it, I also like the dress detail in this shot too. I had also recently invested in a Nikon 12-24mm lens with a stunning angle of view as you'll see in a few of my fav shots below.

Congratulations Hannah & David and I hope you love the shots as much as I do!! - Steven
