Steven Bradshaw Photography - FAQs

Are you a member of any UK body such as BIPP, BPPA, SWPP? (Members of a regulative body are usually high quality professionals)

I am a qualified and affiliated licentiate member of the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photographers) and the SWPP (Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers). I am also a Qualified Award Winning Photographer with the Guild Of Photographers

How long have you been photographing weddings?

I have been photographing weddings since 1995 and have shot over 650 weddings in that time. Before this I was a full-time senior press photographer in York.

Are you the only photographer in this company? If I hire you, am I guaranteed that you will be the one showing up to shoot my wedding?

I am the sole photographer and prefer to work alone - In the unlikely event of injury or sickness beyond my control I will do my best to provide a qualified photographer with similar style, experience and ability to cover your wedding, or a full refund will be given.

Do you offer traditional and reportage style wedding photography?

Although my style of photography is natural and relaxed for much of the day, I appreciate a small number of formal family photographs will be required.  In order to keep the disruption to a minimum, I recommend approximately 7-10 groups, which should take no longer than 25 minutes. However, if you want a more extensive coverage all your needs will be accommodated as efficiently as possible.

How many photographs will you take on the day?

There is no upper limit to the number of photographs taken - You will receive as many pictures as there are opportunities! The quantity might depend on the size of your wedding, the location or the weather. You should expect a minimum of 500 images on my all day coverage package.

Some photographers may purport to supply more than this, but there will be duplicates and black and white versions of the same images already supplied in colour. Realistically, unless there are two photographers in attendance, a single photographer shooting a 10 hour all day coverage would have to be taking a completely different photograph every single minute of the day, to provide you with 600+ 'different' images.

Do you retouch or enhance the pictures?

Everycare is taken to ensure your pictures look amazing. All images are individually balanced for Brightness, Contrast, Colour, Density, Cropping, Level, Saturation & Highlight Recovery and Sharpness. I retouch and enhance all images where I feel necessary. I do not charge extra for this service. Extensive Photoshop work may incur additional charge if specifically requested depending on client requirements.

Do we get to keep all the pictures?

My packages include a high resolution download facility and will mean you get acess to all the fully post produced images taken, in a high resolution jpeg format. You have copyright license to reproduce the work for your own use as you wish, for albums, canvasses, prints etc.

Will you visit the venue before the wedding day?

Normally Yes, particularly if I have not shot a wedding at your venue before. I can provide a pre wedding Engagement Shoot session with the Bride & Groom for them to get used to being photographed at their wedding or reception venue. This pre wedding portrait shoot can be tied in with a final details meeting to recheck all the timings and detail about your day.

Do you charge a fee if the wedding and reception are in more than one location?

In most cases there will be no charge for mileage. There may be a small charge to cover mileage costs if the wedding is over 30 miles from Derby, where I am based.

Do you work with a second photographer?

I prefer to work alone as I find it easier to blend into the background.  In my experience guests become more aware that they are being photographed if there is more than one photographer around which can make them feel quite uncomfortable. However, depending upon the size of your wedding and requirements, a second photographer can be provided, at an additional cost.

What kind of cameras do you use?

I use top of the range Canon DSLR digital cameras & Lenses. These cameras enable me to simultaneously backup all of the images on to two separate memory cards, providing added security for digital wedding photos should a memory card fail, and I always carry backup equipment of the same professional specification.

If your packages are not what I am looking for, would you be willing to try to customize a package for me that is within my budget?

If my packages do not cover your requirements then I can put together a bespoke quote based on your exact needs and budget.

Do you have public liability and indemnity insurances?

I hold professional indemnity cover and public liability cover, I can produce certificate copies on request or for venues such as National Trust houses, who usually specify this of all your wedding suppliers.

How do we book you?

Normally I would meet for a 'no obligation' chat over coffee, to discuss your requirements and learn about your day. I will give you a bespoke quotation for your wedding.

Once the quote is agreed, you complete a short booking form, agree the contract and pay the retainer / part payment booking fee of £250.00 to secure your date. - this can all be done online within a few minutes.

I receive more enquiries per year than there are days available, and this means I am unable to provisionally hold any date without payment of the booking fee. All dates are booked on a first come first served basis.
